If you get poor quality traffic, you'll use up bandwidth and not really get much for it. You need visitors but you'll need them to be the best quality there is.

Building a keyword rich page is a sure step to ranking highly at the search engines. But which keywords should one focus on?

You can guess it. However, your guess will likely be very wrong. The best step is to use a great keyword research tool. The better ones give you the demand (that is, how many times the keyword or search phrase was used by searchers in a given month). They also give you the supply (that is, how many pages are already competing for the top spot for that key phrase. Finally, they give you the profitability of the keyword (that is, how easily you will rank high all other things being equal).

Some of the best tools integrate a monetization column. This shows you how profitable it will be to have Google's Adsense versus Yahoo ads, for example.

Different tools incorporate different aspects of necessary site building research. You simply need to do a good search to ensure you get a great all-in-one tool.
