How to Write Your Own Ebook
First you need to determine the topic of your ebook. To what market are you going to give this ebook?

Once you have decided this, write a list of 10 ideas that you would like to cover in this ebook - topics that give people a good general feel for your area of expertise, and that will give you an opportunity to share with them some information that they probably haven't seen before.

One thing to remember here is that people will evaluate the worth of your paid products based on the value you give them in the free ebook. So the free ebook should have just as much useful information per page as your full-fledged product that you are selling. The difference here is that your reader is only going to get 10 or so pages with the free ebook, rather than 50 or 100 in your paid product.

You may be thinking, well I don't want to give away my information for free. But think about this - you are not giving it away for free. Each person that downloads your free ebook is subscribing to your list. What is each subscriber worth to you? One dollar? Ten dollars? And what is the exponential impact of having a free product that others can give away and willingly send you traffic too?

Once you have your list of 10 areas of interest which you wish to cover, write about 500 words about that area of interest. Start with an introduction to the area of interest, offer 2-3 main ideas on the area of interest, and then summarize the information. Do this for each of the areas of information you have listed. When you are done, you should have at least 10 pages of good solid information.

Be sure and include ample links to your own squeeze page, offering a free ecourse or some other free ebook, for those people who will read your ebook that are referred by other web sites than your own. If you write about a topic and you can reasonably recommend an affiliate product, be sure and include your affiliate link. It is not unheard of to receive commissions years after the initial release of an ebook, so be sure and take advantage of this.

Proofread your ebook, add a table of contents, page numbers, and then have someone else proofread your ebook. They will generally find spelling and grammatical mistakes, no matter how thoroughly you have proofread it yourself. Be sure and note in the ebook that it is a free ebook and that anyone can give it away freely, as long as they do not alter any of the information in it.

Next, you will need to convert your ebook to PDF form, so that it is easily read on just about any computer world wide. If you do not already have a PDF converter, you can go directly to the adobe website, where they will give you 5 free PDF conversions. Once you have 5 ebooks, you should be in a position to buy the software yourself.

An additional step would be to make your new ebook rebrandable. This allows the people who give away your ebook to rebrand it with their own affiliate links, creating an additional incentive for them to give it away. Although this is a powerful technique, if you have never created an ebook, start simple and create a basic one like I have described here, and then when are more comfortable, re-release the ebook in a rebrandable version.

At this point, you will want to start giving away your ebook, making it clear that it can be given away freely. You can do this via all your other traffic building efforts, giving the book away to anyone who becomes a subscriber. Another method would be to give your book to ebook directories, so they can give your book away for free.

Various Forms of Traffic Generation - Viral List Builders and List Building Coops

Viral List Builders

Viral list builders are software programs that leverage your own list building efforts by allowing you to gain access to not only the people whom your personally add to your list, but everyone they add also, and so on to some number of levels. I will tell you this, I am not a fan of viral list builders like these, because if you use them to create your list, you lose control of your list---it is not really your list, it is the list of the web site that you choose to use to build your list. So, I do not recommend using these to build your list. Build your list using any and all the other techniques in this book, then join some of these list builders for the purpose of gaining access to your own subscribers' mailing lists by promoting these sites to your own subscribers. But in all fairness, you should let them know the same thing I just mentioned - that these should be tools for accessing their own subscribers' mailing lists, not to create their list itself. List Building Coops

List Building Coops are programs that multiply your efforts at marketing by combining your efforts with those of other marketers. Typically, you will simultaneously promote another marketers' opt in page with your own and the other marketers will do the same. For example, on your opt in page, instead of having one opt in box with just the opportunity for your visitor to opt in to your list, they would see an opt in box that allows them to opt in to your list and other marketers at the same time. In exchange, other marketers do the same thing.

Start Page Exchanges

Start page exchanges are networks that show your web page on other people's when they open a browser on their computer, in exchange for you doing the same. I have not personally had any success with these, but some marketers who heavily promote them apparently do, so I wanted to mention this only so that your traffic building knowledge would be well-rounded. As with the viral list builders, I only recommend using these if you already have a list, and simply promote these to your list to use. When you are first getting started, if you have a lot of extra time, you can treat these almost like the traffic exchanges, and click on others' links to gain credits for your own, but I certainly do not recommend these as a long-term strategy.

JV Partners

What are JV partners? JV stands for joint venture and a joint venture partner is, quite simply, someone just like yourself that is marketing online, has a list, and is looking for a way to build his list, just like you are. Now, you cannot do this when you have no list, but as soon as you have about 500, you can get pretty aggressive with this technique.

All you need to do is locate others online who has lists just like your own (they may range from 500 to 10,000 or higher) and both of you agree to swap mailings. You will mail an opt in offer of his and he will mail an opt in offer of yours.

Now this offer should only be to gain subscribers, not to sell anything at all. If you write a strong email and offer a valuable incentive to opting in to your list, you can get as many as 25-35% of a fellow list builders list to opt in to your list. Imagine if you were to assemble a collection of other marketers who have between 500 and 10,000 names each on their lists---perhaps a total of 40,000 email addresses all together. Now, imagine if in one huge JV email swap you could come up with just 25% of their subscriber base as your own. You would add 10,000 subscribers nearly overnight!
