Traffic Building - How to Get Started
Starting out in traffic building can be most frustrating because you read articles like this one that tell you to work on building up the good traffic, the quality traffic, and we tell you that it takes time and that the only way to go is with quality traffic.

And then you see these crazy ads to buy like a million hits for $100 or you see you can get a traffic builder for $67 - and you are so confused. So you buy the package and it doesn't work - you don't get any hits, or there is someone is some backwoods place clicking on your site again and again or worse yet, some computer is doing it and you are just running up your bandwidth at your web host.

And then your web host hits you up for more money because you had too much traffic, but you know it was not real, and you did no business.

If you have already made that mistake, no worries, I did it too. If you have not, hmmm. Take my word for it! Do not use traffic exchanges, guaranteed traffic, expired domain traffic, exit traffic, popunder traffic, popup traffic, safelist traffic, nothing like that! It doesn't work!

You have to use real, referred traffic.

You can use PPC like Google Adsense or Yahoo Overture, you can advertise in ezines (the cheap ones usually don't work, sorry), you can write articles like this (I get lots of traffic this way), and you can use things like JV giveaways and JV email swaps to get traffic. My number one recommendation when you are just getting started is to write 10 articles a day in the same topic as your website and post them to the top 5 article directories.

Quality Traffic Building

When you first get started in traffic building, and you want to build quality traffic, it is so frustrating. You are getting bombarded with ads for all kinds of crazy cheap traffic. Yu try some of it and it doesn't work, and then you get frustrated thinking that you must be doing something wrong. You are - you are buying cheap traffic.

What are my favorite traffic sources and how do I use them?

In reverse order:

3) Traffic that comes from the search engines. This is good traffic, but it can take awhile and some hard work for this to build up. But you can cheat and pay for this traffic; it won't be as good, but you can sometimes make it work if you are careful to target your ad. Don't give away too much for free. Just take the ones that really want to learn more.

2) Traffic that comes from other people's lists like ezine advertising. This is really good traffic too, because the ones that click through to your web site are already on a list, and they already read their email, and they already click through. How do you know that - because they did all of that for you! Just be careful and test everything. Some ezines are really good, others are really lousy!

1) Article marketing. I write articles just like this and submit them to the online article directories. They promote my article for free and as long as I put a link back to my site like the one you see at the end of this article, then people click my link and I get traffic. I think that this is the very best traffic because when people click they already know what they want and they already like something about me that they learned when they read my article.
